CD Trouble Shooting
In some rare instances any given CD ROM, out of thousands reproduced, will be defective and non functioning. However, before you determine this is the case with your CD ROM you can follow a few steps for trouble shooting. The fact that you are able to read this Read Me file indicates that the CD ROM is working with your computer and it may be a problem with a given file or method you are using to accomplish a particular task. Below is a list of some issues you may come across. Files appear in the Search_CD database but aren't on the CD The Everything CD for FileMaker Pro is a Hybrid CD ROM, which means it will run on both a Macintosh and a Windows operating system. Some of the solutions and files listed in the index, however, were designed for one OS or the other. In these cases, the file was not added to the side of the CD in which it would not function. There are instances when the content managers for this CD determined that a solution originally designed for Macintosh would be of value to Windows users. In this case, the file would be made available on the Windows side of the CD ROM as well. If you have both operating systems available at your disposal, it is possible to get a copy of the file found in the Contents from the other platform. I keep getting the same dialog saying it cannot find the file
Because the files on the Everything CD for FileMaker Pro span two CD ROMs you must have the correct CD inserted into your CD ROM drive in order to reveal the solution you are looking for. Make sure and double check at the top of the SEARCH_CD interface that you have the same CD inserted as the one listed to contain the solution.
